The RoleThis is a full-time Design & Technology (DT) Technician position, starting ASAP. Working as a pivotal member of the support team, the successful candidate will provide essential technical assistance to both staff and students. This role involves managing workshops, preparing materials for various disciplines (including resistant materials and electronics), and ensuring that the learning environment remains a safe, creative hub for innovation.

Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in a technician role, ideally within an educational setting.
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Eligibility right to work in the UK.
Essential Skills
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using circular saws, planers, lathes, and various hand tools.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: A deep understanding of workshop safety and machinery guarding.
- Organisation: Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with both teenagers and staff.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in preparing materials to specific measurements.
- Initiative: The ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Preparation: Prepare Resistant materials, machines for practical lessons.
- Equipment Maintenance: Carry out routine checking, cleaning, and repairing of hand tools and machinery.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all workshop activities adhere to COSHH and Health and Safety regulations.
- Classroom Support: Provide technical advice and live demonstrations to students during practical sessions.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels and liaise with suppliers to order new materials.
- CAD/CAM Operation: Support the use of 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machinery.
- Exhibition Prep: Assist in the mounting and display of student work for school exhibitions.
- Risk Assessment: Help teaching staff update and implement rigorous risk assessments for projects.
- Organisation: Maintain prep rooms and workshops in a clean, secure, and orderly condition.
- Administrative Support: Assist with departmental photocopying, filing, and budget tracking.
