Summary
Main Duties & Responsibilities Quality (Safety, Experience & Effectiveness) Under the supervision of a registered nurse, and in line with patient wishes, provide a high standard of holistic care to patients and their families. Support the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of individual care plans, communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team and seeking advice when required. Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records at all times. Promptly report any complaints, concerns or incidents to the IPU Sister or a senior member of staff. Adhere to all Hospice procedures, protocols and policies to minimise health and safety, infection control and other risks, ensuring a consistently high-quality service. Provide cover across hospice services as required to meet service needs.Workforce Development & Professional Standards Participate in quality improvement, practice development and innovation activities to support best practice. Contribute to team learning, reflection and development activities to improve patient care. Maintain and develop IT skills to effectively use hospice systems, including computers, tablets, email, online training and service-specific systems. Understand the roles of other professionals within the team and contribute effectively as a team member. Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and external professionals, recognising the boundaries of the role. Recognise the emotional impact of palliative care and access appropriate support systems for self and colleagues when required.Other Responsibilities Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required by Hospice management. Act as an ambassador for Barnsley Hospice, demonstrating honesty, integrity and professionalism at all times. Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements. Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, clinical risk management and safeguarding procedures. Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to meet service demands. Support the Hospice across services as appropriate within the grading of the post.
