Estates Project Manager (Engineering)

TEAMMKUH are looking for an experienced and motivatedEstates Project Managerto join the Estates Engineering team to lead on the delivery of capital and minor works as well as other Estates projects across the Trust.

This is a hands‑on position that involves working in confined spaces, and construction areas, as well as using technical software such as Micad and AutoCAD. Furthermore, the successful candidate will also participate in the Estates Engineer on‑call rota, providing out‑of‑hours support when required.

You will also act as the Trust’s Appointed / Responsible Person for Asbestos, providing specialist advice, overseeing surveys and removal works, and ensuring our asbestos register (Micad) remains accurate and compliant.

• Regarding projects, you will prepare detailed project plans, technical specifications, drawings, and documentation, and you will oversee contractors, third-party negotiations, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery in a live hospital environment. This role also involves ensuring your team are developing their CPD by training workshops and 1 to 1 training sessions.

• The Project Manager is responsible for the planning, monitoring and control of all aspects of the projects to which he/she is appointed including ensuring the successful delivery of the projects on time and to the specified cost, quality standards and performance.
• To act as the Trust’s Appointed / Responsible person for asbestos, to lead on asbestos management providing specialist advice to the Estates and other departments across the trust , organsing and delivering training for in house staff and contractors , managing asbestos surveying consultants and asbestos removal contractors.

• Management of one or more Estates / Minor New works / Capital projects including refurbishments, redevelopments and new builds in accordance with the Trust’s project management processes and policies.
• Preparation of a detailed project plans to ensure successful completion of each stage of the project.
• Responsible for the effective supervision and management of the contract, including change and performance management and for the successful delivery of the project within a live hospital environment.
• Ensuring that each stage of the project is managed within the agreed budget and program and to the required quality standards.
• Responsible for management of the projects on a day-to-day basis, ensuring compliance with appropriate legislation, statutory approvals, mandatory standards (HTM’s and HBN’s) and with Trust values, policies and procedures.
• Ensuring that all aspects of the projects are managed on the basis of best practice, promoting sustainability and working towards enhancing patient care and experience.
• Act as Client representative and main Trust point of contact on all appointed schemes.
• Responsible for ensuring the correct surveys are carried out, for example structural and asbestos surveys.
• To act as the Trust’s Appointed / Responsible person for Asbestos and other disciplines as requested.
• To be responsible for overseeing the Estates Minor New Works requests being processed and delivered which will include projects to a nominal value (currently £5k) ,which will include C.N.W.L. when requested.
• Be responsible for producing Technical documents / reports / drawings /specifications in sufficient detail to enable information to be used in all areas of Capital projects , Minor New works.
• This role will include the undertaking of audits to ensure robust systems and competencies are in place and are managed appropriately by the contractors.
