Taunton Hospital | Nursing | Permanent | Full-Time
Up to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience
37.5 hours per week
Nuffield Health is the UK's largest Healthcare Charity. We're passionate about building a healthier nation. And we're shaping an outstanding Outpatient experience by giving our nursing colleagues more time to care and get to know our patients. It starts with great leadership. It starts with you.
As our Outpatients Manager, you'll be a clinically registered professional with post‑registration experience in Outpatients or a similar acute setting. You'll bring strong leadership capability, ideally gained in a Team Leader or equivalent role, and the confidence to guide, support and develop a high‑performing clinical team.
You will provide strong clinical leadership to the department, assuming overall accountability for clinical effectiveness and operational management. You'll ensure care is patient‑centred, evidence‑based, innovative and delivered by a trained, motivated and compassionate team. As part of the senior clinical leadership team, you'll also contribute to local strategy and champion clinical standards across the hospital.
As our Outpatients Manager, you will:
-
Lead and oversee the Outpatients Department, including Diagnostics, Pre‑operative Assessment, and Minor Procedures, ensuring high‑quality and efficient service delivery.
-
Review clinic capacity and utilisation to enhance consultant accessibility and support effective scheduling.
-
Collaborate with consultants to optimise clinic templates and maximise use of available space and resources.
-
Manage outpatient equipment to ensure all assets remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
-
Identify and drive service improvement opportunities, contributing to capital planning and investment proposals where appropriate.
-
Improve patient flow and reduce waiting times, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all patients.
-
Use performance data and insight to inform service development, enhance efficiency and support strategic decision‑making.
-
Lead, support and develop the Outpatients team, fostering a positive, high‑performing and collaborative working environment.
-
Ensure delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care in line with clinical standards, governance requirements and organisational values.
-
Provide strong clinical leadership, maintaining accountability for clinical quality, operational performance and regulatory compliance.
