Permanent role

First established in 1971, the National Film and Television School (NFTS) has evolved to become a leading global institution, developing some of Britain and the world’s top creative talent in film, television and games. It is widely acknowledged to be the top school of its kind in the UK and one of the best internationally, being named as one of The Hollywood Reporter’s top international film schools for over a decade. The NFTS is a registered charity (313429).

The NFTS produces over 200 film, television and games projects each year, operating multiple stages, workshops and facilities to support this ambitious output. The School is now looking to recruit a Set Painter & Decorator to join its Carpentry team to collaborate closely with Production Designers, Art Directors, tutors and our students to support the realisation of creative concepts while maintaining professional industry standards within an educational environment.

The successful candidate will have strong practical scenic skills and be able to interpret and work accurately from design drawings, mood boards and visual references with an understanding of film and TV production processes. You should have knowledge of basic carpentry and construction, including building and modifying flats and simple scenic structures, and have a commitment to safe working practices, following H&S policies and procedures at all times.

We are seeking a motivated, self-starting individual with a practical approach and a willingness to get involved in a wide variety of tasks. Applicants should have experience of working in film/TV production, studio facilities or a similar environment, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

This is a unique opportunity to join a world-renowned institution and play a hands-on role in supporting the next generation of filmmakers and creative talent.
