Duties, Responsibilities and Key relationships of the job Operational or Strategic Responsibilities: To ensure the provision of a comprehensive Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service to the care groups specified in the job summary. This includes Specialist assessment; differential diagnosis; clinical decision making and provision of appropriate levels of intervention based on best practice To provide training to school staff and parents as required To adhere to quality guidelines and participate in service monitoring and clinical audit To adhere to agreed administrative procedures for the service including the collection of statistical data To adhere to the service plan and agreed protocols To contribute to discussions on proposed local clinical guidelines, protocols and care packages To independently maintain the operational running of delegated parts of the service To frequently work alone and unsupervised To support/mentor Band 5 therapists and supervise assistants, volunteers and students and contribute to their development To fulfil statutory requirements towards other agencies. This includes the provision of complex written reports for the statutory assessment process To attend Speech and Language Therapy Department Team meetings, inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary meetings
