Crynodeb
The post holder will work as part of a small specialist team engaged in inspecting, testing,maintainingand repairing a wide range of medical equipment. He/she will have the relevant qualifications, combinedwithpracticalexperience and the ability to work on his/her own initiative with sophisticated medical devices in a patient sensitive environment. TheEngineerisalsoexpected to service andmaintainequipment that is categorised to bepredominantlymedium-highriskin terms of patient care technology. Fault diagnosismaybeundertakenwhilst equipment is connected to, orin close proximity topatients. Additionalduties includementoring junior staff and upholding team-centred working relationshipswithin the department and across the organisation. Undertakeservicing and repair of medical devices in a safe,professionaland organised mannerin accordance withdepartmental procedures, Trust policies andmanufacturers recommendations. Carryout plannedpreventative maintenance (PPM), fault-finding,repairand calibration ofmedium-highriskmedical equipment. Understand the clinical applications of medical devices and have the skills necessary to discuss these issues with medical staff. Workon devices that may have been exposed to contamination and bodily fluids andwhilst exposed to mains and/or otherpotentiallylethal voltages. Maintainaccurateequipment records maintenance records,complying withtimeframes,legibilityand quality of information. Acceptance testing of new equipment to ensure compliancewithappropriate standards. UseI.T. based systemsand sophisticated test equipmenttocalibrate, diagnose faults and upgrade medical equipment. Promoteteamwork,flexibilityand versatility within the department.
