Role Overview
We are seeking a highly reliable and very hardworking practical Helper to support the upkeep and presentation of commercial premises.
The role involves daily deep cleaning, painting, tidying, organising, and small DIY tasks to ensure workspaces remain clean, organised, safe, and professional at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Presentation
Carry out deep cleaning of commercial areas with steam mops, hand steamer, including:
Offices, reception areas, corridors, kitchens, toilets, and storage areas.
Routine cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitising surfaces.
Cleaning of appliances, fixtures, skirting boards, doors, and glass.
Waste management, recycling, and disposal.
Tidying & Organising
Maintain tidy and organised workspaces, storage rooms, and communal areas.
Assist with decluttering and reorganising equipment, supplies, and stock areas
Support layout changes and preparation of spaces for inspections, visitors, or operational use.
Painting & Decorating.
Assist with painting and basic decorating of commercial interiors.
Prepare surfaces (cleaning, sanding, masking).
Ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
Leave areas clean and presentable on completion at all times.
DIY & Maintenance.
Carry out basic DIY and maintenance tasks, including:
Hanging signage, noticeboards, shelves, and fixtures.
Minor repairs and adjustments.
Assembly of furniture and equipment.
Replacing fittings where competent.
Identify and report larger maintenance or safety issues should they arise.
Health & Safety.
Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
Use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment safely.
Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
Skills & Experience.
Experience in commercial cleaning, facilities support, maintenance, or similar.
Practical approach with basic DIY knowledge.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Personal Attributes.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
A professional attitude suitable for a commercial environment.
Proactive and able to manage tasks efficiently.
Respectful of business operations and confidentiality.
Working Conditions.
Minimum of 25 hours per week.
Work carried out in commercial or business premises only.
Equipment and materials provided unless otherwise agreed.
Desirable (but not essential).
Facilities, maintenance, or handyman experience.
Health & Safety or COSHH awareness.
Self-employed with monthly invoicing well above minimum wages. To be discussed at interview.
