Job Description. Assistant Practice Manager.Location. St Nicolas Medical Centre.Hours. 25 to 30 hours per week. Role purpose.Support the effective day to day running of a growing NHS general practice branch site. Ensure services are safe, well organised, and compliant. Contribute to operational delivery, staff management, and practice development. Key duties and responsibilities. Practice operations. Support daily operational management of the practice. Ensure smooth running of reception and administrative services. Actively cover reception when required to maintain service continuity. Manage workflows, task allocation, and escalation processes. Support implementation of practice policies and SOPs. Staff management. Support supervision of reception and administrative staff. Manage rotas, annual leave, and sickness cover. Support recruitment, induction, and training. Monitor performance and address operational issues promptly. Governance and compliance. Support CQC compliance across all five key domains. Maintain evidence, policies, and action plans. Support significant event analysis, complaints handling, and learning. Ensure information governance and GDPR standards are met. Monitor mandatory training and appraisal compliance. QOF and performance. Support QOF delivery and monitoring. Work with clinical and administrative teams to meet targets. Support audits, recalls, and data quality improvement. Assist with NHS returns and reporting requirements. Finance and performance support. Work with the Finance Manager on performance targets and activity monitoring. Support efficient use of resources and administrative processes. Assist with claims, enhanced services administration, and monitoring. Working relationships. Report to the Practice Manager for administrative matters. Work closely with the Finance Manager on finance and targets. Coordinate with GP Partners on operational and clinical priorities. Liaise with PCN, ICB, and external stakeholders as required. Person requirements. Minimum three years experience in NHS general practice. Strong understanding of general practice operations. Confident in managing staff and competing priorities. Organised, reliable, and solution focused. Able to work independently and as part of a senior management team.
