In-Person SEN Tutor | Flexible Hours | Term-Time Only | Highly Rewarding
Are you a calm, compassionate educator who thrives on building trust with children who find school overwhelming?
We're looking for In-Person Tutors to support children and young people who are currently out of school due to SEN, SEMH, behavioural needs, or mental health challenges. You'll work 1:1 with learners who are often school-refusing, helping them reconnect with education at their own pace.
This role is about far more than academics. It's about consistency, patience, and belief.
About the Role
You will deliver personalised 1:1 tuition during school hours, typically between 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Sessions usually take place in the student's home or community setting.
Students may have autism, ADHD, anxiety, SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or trauma-related barriers to learning.
Your focus will be on rebuilding engagement, confidence, and emotional safety, alongside core subjects such as English and Maths.
You'll liaise with parents/carers, schools, and professionals, and provide clear session feedback.
Hours & Flexibility
Most students receive 6-15 hours per week.
Work is term-time only, with no evenings or weekends.
You can take on additional students if you'd like more hours.
Ideal for tutors seeking flexible, meaningful work that fits around other commitments.
Who This Role Suits
Experienced tutors, teachers, SEN practitioners, or educators with SEN / SEMH / behavioural experience.
Confident working independently in a 1:1 setting.
Patient, resilient, and creative in adapting learning to the child.
Strong at building rapport with children who may be anxious, withdrawn, or disengaged.
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply) and safeguarding knowledge required.
A driving licence and access to transport is often needed due to travel to students.
Why This Role Matters
Many of the learners you'll support have been out of education for long periods. For some, your sessions may be their only consistent learning provision. Your presence, consistency, and encouragement can be genuinely life-changing.
If you're passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and want work that truly makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
