Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and high-achieving school in Darlington to recruit a School Administration Assistant to join their busy office team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong administrative or receptionist experience who is looking to move into a school environment.
The RoleAs a School Administration Assistant, you will be a vital part of the front-office team, responsible for providing professional, friendly, and efficient administrative support.
Typical duties include:
- Managing the school reception and being the first point of contact for visitors, parents, students, and staff
- Handling incoming calls, emails, and general enquiries
- Maintaining accurate records and updating school systems
- Supporting attendance processes, data entry, filing, and document preparation
- Assisting with general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the school office
What We're Looking ForWhile previous school-based experience is beneficial, we also welcome applicants with transferable skills from standalone administrative or receptionist positions.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong organisational and communication abilities
- Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office
- The ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
- A professional, calm, and friendly manner
A DBS on the Update Service is highly advantageous, although not essential-Hays can support candidates through the process if required.
Working Hours & Contract
- Full-time: 37 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Term time only + 3 additional weeks
- Fixed-term 1-year contract
