Full Time Mammography Associate Practitioner Apprenticeship – Band 4; 70% of the salary in the first instance at North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS) The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is the host trust for the Central & East London Breast Screening, North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS), and The London Administration Hub.

This is an exciting opportunity to train as an Associate Practitioner working within the North London Breast Screening Service. This is one of the largest units in England where you can make a worthwhile contribution in a warm and friendly environment.

The successful candidate will be supported through the Mammography Associate Programme to obtain the qualifications to undertake screening mammography in accordance with NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards.

The apprenticeship in mammography is a new route, which will enable the mammography associate to undertake routine 2 view mammograms. You will be trained to undertake mammograms (breast x-rays) of women to aid in the early detection of breast cancer and assisting during special procedures in assessment clinics, in addition to helping with other breast screening processes as necessary.

This very busy service will require you to work in both static and mobile screening sites on a rotational basis. This post necessitates travel across this area and therefore the use of a car and a current driving licence is desirable.

We are looking for someone with a mature outlook, excellent people skills and an interest in women’s health. This dynamic service would be a great opportunity for an individual looking to enhance their career development in health care.

Entry Requirements:

18 Years or older

Be Legally allowed to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for the last three years

You must hold GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths at grade 4 or above or A* to C.

If you don’t have these qualifications you might be able to achieve them as part of the programme.

If you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. British Sign Language qualifications are an alternative to English qualifications for which this is their primary language.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17million tests.

Our size, scale and influence offer you unrivalled career opportunities and a forward-thinking approach to working that works around your lifestyle. From flexible hours and generous benefits, to next level training, we make it easier to take your career to the top.
