Part-time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 17-year-old person living in the Beddau area with my family and pets. I enjoy colouring, playing piano, cooking food and would also like to ice skate more often. I also take part in performing arts.
I use they/them pronouns.
I experience non-epileptic seizures and feelings of anxiety. I am diagnosed with autism. I also tire easily so on longer days out do make use of a wheelchair.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a PA to support me to access the community and take part in social activities and to develop my social skills. The aim is also to make me more independent.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 6 hours per week available during term time and 12 hours during school holidays.
During term time I would be looking for the PA to work 4 hours on a Monday and 2 hours on a Wednesday. During holidays this would be more flexible.
I am happy for someone to apply for part hours if you cannot commit to both days.
RATES OF PAY
£13.50 per hour and 40p per mile where applicable.
TASKS INVOLVED
Someone to take me ice skating.
Supporting me to use public transport.
Going out for a coffee.
Helping me to cook at home.
Showing me how to complete some domestic tasks.
Potentially learning lines with me.
Build up to going swimming one day.
Helping me to develop social skills.
Potentially attending a club together.
Ensuring my safety and watching for signs of me tiring during activities.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone with a good sense of humour.
A very friendly and kind person.
A person happy to work in a home with pets. Liking dogs and cats is a bonus.
Someone who is not shy or quiet.
A calm person in case of seizures.
Someone with good awareness/experience working with neurodivergence/autism/mental health.
A car driver with business class insurance.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
