Title: Development Chemist
Irvine, Scotland
Salary: £35,000- £42,000 per annum DOE
Term: Permanent
SRG is working with Industry leading manufacturer and marketer of personal & home care aerosols based in Scotland. They are now looking for a Development Chemist to join the NPD team. This is a varied role meaning no 2 days will look the same, you would be developing and formulating new products from concept to production, line extensions, manufacturing and scaling up samples, preparation and analysis of samples using wet chemistry testing while ensuring regulatory compliance on all projects. This role would suit candidates with 3+ years industrial experience personal care and home care sector.
Working hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm, 45hour week
Role / Description
- Leading formulation development from initial lab work through to full scale‑up and production.
- Managing multiple NPD projects, ensuring they meet timelines, cost targets, and quality standards.
- Supporting and improving our existing product portfolio with new ideas and technical expertise.
- Collaborating closely with Lab, Process, Engineering, QA and other operational teams to deliver successful launches.
- Providing quick, accurate feasibility assessments to help progress tenders and customer opportunities.
- Overseeing key sign‑off stages such as stability, artwork, and specifications.
- Staying ahead of industry innovations in raw materials, test methods, and technology
Requirements
- A degree in Chemistry or Cosmetic Science, plus experience developing formulations in aerosols, personal care, household or cosmetic products.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to thrive in a high‑volume, fast‑moving environment.
- Strong regulatory awareness and GMP experience within a similar setting.
