We are seeking a dedicated Personal Assistant (PA) to provide one-to-one support for an autistic, non-verbal adult with a learning disability. While the individual is primarily non-verbal, they are able to communicate using visual aids and have some verbal communication, which may take time for the PA to understand and interpret effectively. The role will initially focus on supporting the individual within the home environment, building a trusting and meaningful relationship at their own pace. The PA will help facilitate gradual engagement with the local community, including attending support groups, visiting local amenities, and participating in activities aligned with the individual’s interests, such as cinema and gym. The ideal candidate will be reliable, patient, and committed to understanding the individual’s needs, enabling them to feel secure and supported while progressing towards greater independence and community involvement. Supporting the individual to engage with the local community by accompanying them on outings and assisting with the safe and confident use of public transport to attend shops, leisure activities, and support groups
