About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facilities Management team within a busy hospital environment. This is a key role in ensuring our clinical and non‑clinical areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and infection control.
As a Cleaning Supervisor, you will support the day‑to‑day coordination of the domestic team, ensuring all cleaning tasks are completed effectively, efficiently, and in line with hospital policies and national standards.
Pay: £21,000Contract: PermanentType: Part TimeHours: 32 hours per weekLocation: Cumberland Infirmary, Newtown Road, Carlisle, Cumbria, England, CA2 7HY
Key Responsibilities
-Oversee and support domestic staff across designated hospital areas
-Ensure cleaning standards meet infection prevention and control requirements
-Carry out regular audits, quality checks, and documentation
-Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to team members
-Manage rotas, allocate daily tasks, and monitor staffing levels
-Liaise with clinical and non‑clinical teams to respond to cleaning priorities
-Ensure equipment and materials are used safely and appropriately
-Report maintenance issues and escalate concerns where necessary
-Promote a positive, professional, and safe working environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
-Has previous supervisory experience, ideally within healthcare or a similar high‑standard environment
-Understands infection control, COSHH, and health & safety requirements
-Can lead, motivate, and support a diverse team
-Works well under pressure and can prioritise effectively
-Has strong communication and organisational skills
-Is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment
