Caldey Island is a historic island open to Visitors between the months of April -
November laying off the Pembrokeshire coast, accessible by boat and subject to
weather and tidal conditions. Working here offers a unique lifestyle but requires
adaptability, good planning, and a hands-on approach.
Role Purpose
Caldey Island Estate Company is seeking a practical, reliable, and safety-conscious
Maintenance Person to support the day-to-day operation of Caldey Island. Undertaking
planned and reactive maintenance and repairs across estate buildings and
infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Scheduling works and Coordinating contractors.
• Management of maintenance Volunteers.
• Ordering and taking delivery of materials.
• Routine compliance checks and meter reading.
• Providing practical support to Island operations.
Person Specification
Essential
• Relevant practical maintenance Qualifications and skills like carpentry,
plumbing, and electrics.
• Good understanding of UK Health and Safety Law and regulations.
• Be able to conduct Risk Assessments and Method Statements relevant to the
role.
• Hold a clean UK driving license.
• Be self-motivated and well organised.
• Good communication skills.
• Work as a team or on their own.
• Be willing to live on the Island (accommodation provided)
Desirable
• Qualifications to operate plant and machinery
• Experience of working in remote or marine environments
• First aid
• Experience in working on Heritage and listed buildings
