We are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils across EYFS to Key Stage 2 in primary schools throughout the Wirral.
This role is ideal for candidates who have previous SEND experience or those with a genuine willingness to work with children with additional needs.
Pupils may present with a range of needs including SEND, behavioural needs and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Support pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs
- Encourage engagement, confidence and independence
- Use positive behaviour management strategies
- Support learning both in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs
- Follow EHCP targets where applicable
Requirements
- Experience working with children (school-based or transferable roles)
- A willingness to work with SEND pupils is essential
- SEND experience is preferred but not required
- Calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel within the Wirral area
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience with SEMH or behaviour support
- Team Teach or similar training
