About the Role
We’re looking for caring and motivated Employment Support Assistants to join our team, helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
You’ll play a key role in supporting learners in workplace environments, developing their travel and life skills (such as cooking and independent living), and helping them thrive both personally and professionally.
This is a highly rewarding and flexible position, ideal for individuals who are patient, empathetic, and passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
You MUST have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or dated within the last 6 months
• Support SEND learners during work placements across Cornwall.
• Break down instructions into clear, manageable steps.
• Provide encouragement, praise, and reassurance to build learner confidence.
• Reinforce health and safety practices in workplace settings.
• Accompany learners on public transport and deliver travel training.
• Assist with developing life skills such as cooking and independent living.
• Liaise with employers to ensure clear communication and expectations.
• Complete safeguarding, Prevent, and additional training as required.
About You
• Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach.
• Awareness of Safeguarding and Prevent (or willingness to complete training).
• Full UK driving licence (clean) and access to a vehicle – travel across Cornwall is essential.
• Flexible and adaptable to different workplaces and environments.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with SEND individuals is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide references.
What We Offer
• Pay rate starting at £12.50 per hour, rising to £12.75 after probation.
• Flexible working – minimum 3 days per week with potential for full-time.
• Opportunity for permanent employment following a successful probation period.
• Ongoing training and professional development, including safeguarding and SEND support.
• Enhanced DBS check provided free of charge (if an update is required).
If you’re passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential, we’d love to hear from you.
Please apply by sending your CV – we look forward to speaking with you soon!
