The Role – Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils with SLCN to develop essential communication and interpersonal skills. You'll deliver one-to-one and small group sessions, helping children build confidence in conversation and independence.

This role offers valuable, hands-on experience working directly with Speech & Language Therapists and implementing tailored interventions—ideal preparation for aspiring therapists or careers in speech and language pathology.

The school is looking for a patient, enthusiastic graduate with a genuine passion for supporting children with communication needs. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and a collaborative approach are essential.

Ideal Candidate – Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

• 2:1 or higher graduate of Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology, Linguistics, Education or related field
• Genuine passion for supporting children with communication needs
• Excellent communication skills with a patient, nurturing approach
• Proactive, empathetic and eager to learn from experienced professionals
• Prior experience with children is beneficial but full training provided
