Crynodeb
We are looking to appoint an Academy Caretaker who shares our values and can bring expertise, energy and commitment to our Premises Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in school working closely with other Caretakers, and leaders to not only manage the security of our buildings, but to take a proactive role in the maintenance and management of our school sites.
Specific Responsibilities
Ensure that the buildings and site are well maintained, safe, warm and dry, to include the following key tasks:
- Minor/ basic repairs and improvements.
- Coordination, liaison and supervision of contractors.
- General porterage duties, including, but not limited to receiving deliveries, moving
furniture and resources, and setting up for functions.
- Be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of supervision of cleaning staff and or third party cleaning contractors ensuring cleaning (internal and external) in the school is performed efficiently, to a high quality and standard.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of all internal and external areas including undertaking cleaning and maintenance duties as required i.e. site clearing and winter maintenance.
- Ensure leaders are kept informed of any issues relating to the site in a timely manner.
- Be responsible for the security including locking & unlocking of the site and its content acting as a primary key holder, the first point of contact, and responder for emergency call outs both inside and outside of working hours.
- Be responsible alongside the Academy Admin team for the co-ordination of all lettings.
- Be responsible for undertaking all necessary tasks as required in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident, major damage and other emergencies and for providing emergency access to the school site, liaising with police, security, and surveillance contractors as required.
- Be pro-active about Health & Safety ensuring the site operates in a safe manner and safe working practices are adopted by all, in accordance with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974.
- Update and maintain records relating to Compliance, Health and Safety and Asset
Management, including updating all premises and health & safety site risk assessments to include but not limited to COSSH, fire safety, specialist equipment, machinery, and lettings etc

Full Time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year on a split shift arrangement Monday - Thursday: 07:00 - 10:30 & 14:00 - 18:00,
Friday: 07:00 - 10:00 & 14:00 - 18:00, with additional hours as required.
