Crynodeb
The post-holder will receive annual appraisal and feedback from their educational supervisor. Progress will be assessed against the competency framework appended to this document. Two year training programme; one year contract renewable each year for a maximum of two years subject to mutual agreement. The expectation is that the postholder will experience and achieve the following within two years: Participation in outpatient clinics Participation in MDMs o Lead ward daily ward rounds Communicate with and advise external referrals Surgery outcome/ theatre exposure Pancreatic resection (open an laparoscopic) Liver resection (open and laparoscopic) Surgery for neuroendocrine tumours Complex renal and caval surgery Laparoscopic/ open cholecystectomy Surgery for benign HPB conditions: biliary reconstruction, fenestration, chronic pancreatitis surgery etc Expected surgical experience after 2 years: >20 liver resections >15 pancreatico-duodenectomies >10 distal pancreatectomies If the candidate is interested in liver transplant experience then please discuss this with your supervisor. Clinical research (database, prospective projects, retrospective analysis) >3 peer reviewed papers The role is designed to cultivate future consultant attributes and leadership. Participation in M&Ms Participation in team meetings Supervision and teaching of junior team members The principal administrative duty of the post-holder will be prompt communication about and careful follow-up of patients seen in the outpatient clinic. In addition the post-holder shares responsibility for writing the discharge summaries for patients. The post-holder will accept referrals from within and without the Trust by telephone and via the electronic referrals system.
