We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker to work in our Bluebell Deaf Services. The Healthcare Support Worker is the role for those who have experience and training, in clinical practice, in a ward or other clinical setting.
You will get an opportunity to work with deaf patients from 18 years onward with various Mental Health Conditions such as Schizophrenia, Depression, Bipolar, Personality Disorder and so on. There will be opportunities to work with patients that have learning disabilities, autism and other sensory loss such as deaf Blindness, Ushers Syndrome and other physical health conditions. These are rare opportunities that will expand your experiences.
This will give you an opportunity to work on a unique environment, gain a new skillset such as BSL (British Sign Language), learning how to support a specialised patient group that you won’t get in another service within the trust.
Healthcare Support Workers provide personalised care to service users, undertaking clinical tasks with supportive supervision as required. Those in this role will spend significant amounts of time engaging with people who use our services. Senior Healthcare Support Workers may go on to progress to become a Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner, once they have completed the necessary training and demonstrated the necessary competences.

Role involves supporting patients in the day-to-day routine including:
· Personal care
· Escorting out on leave / appointments /
· Supporting activities on the ward
· Physical Health support (vitals, Blood glucose checks)
· Dietary support

In this role you will be able to work on a rotational 7 day a week shift basis in the time frames of 4 different shift patterns (Early 07:00 to 13:00, Late 13:00 to 21:00, Long Day 07:00 to 20:30 and Night shifts 20:30 to 07:30). You will also have 6 shift requests a month, giving you the flexibility of shift patterns. The mangers at Bluebell will support you to ensure you get the best of good work life balance where possible.

1. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse/ AP/NA/B4, to implement the delivery of quality nursing care, contributing to the physical, psychological, social, recreational and spiritual care in a recovery-focused way through therapeutic engagement and activities, and taking steps to address any issues that arise.
1. Leading on and undertaking activities to ensure that the fundamentals of careare met - nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support.urse)
2. Facilitating the admission and discharge of service users, ensuring needs of the
patient are met including activities such as property checks, orientation to
services, and ensuring that community support needs are met under direction
of a senior clinician.
3. Advocating for service users’ needs and rights within Trust policy.
4. . Demonstrating an enhanced understanding of Mental Health signs and symptoms and an understanding of how these may present in practice including recognition of impact on patient presentation and behaviour including risk factors.
5. Recognizing and responding appropriately to challenging behaviour in line with Trust policies and training, actively seeking the supervision and guidance of a Senior Health Care Support Worker, Assistant Practitioner, or Registered
Nurse.
6. Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the MHA, MCA and DOLS and other legislation applicable to the practice area and how they are implemented in practice.
