KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports the Charity’s purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase morale, productivity and performance.
2. Implement, develop and establish a program of horticultural training and therapy
3. Maintain and develop the GROW public garden, the Grow polytunnels, yard and forest garden.
4. Help develop commercial opportunities.
5. Support the operations of the nursery and Botanic Gardens.
6. Recruit, develop and support a network of volunteers to help the project.
7. Liaise with parents, carers, guardians, support workers, social workers and other individuals and organisations as required.
8. Liaise with Grow Relief staff to provide a good service to all site stakeholders.
9. Develop knowledge and understanding of appropriate funding opportunities.
10. Provide cover as required.
11. Gardening –To be practically involved in all areas of the gardens and support those with additional needs in their activities. A good level of physical fitness is required.
12. Ensure legislative compliance in all areas, including safe working practices in accordance with current health and safety legislation and to carry out health and safety procedures as required by HLH.
13. Always comply with HLH Code of Conduct and Role Model Behaviors
14. Responsibility for the security of the building ensuring opening and closing procedures are followed. Be a key holder and be able to respond to out-of-hours call outs.
15. Ensure the cleanliness of all areas of the GROW project including kitchen and toilets.
16. Support in the delivery of our obligations to Highland Council, NHS, BID and other trusted partners and stakeholders.
17. Work with the Facility Manager to achieve the objectives of High Life Highland.
18. Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of Inverness Botanic Gardens and High Life Highland as a whole.
19. Attend and undertake any training online or in person.
20. Aim to reduce wastage and uphold our environmental values of being as sustainable as possible in all tasks.
21. Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with particular projects, training or in the event of holidays or sickness working cross-functionally across the Inverness Botanic Gardens team.
22. Undertake all tasks in accordance with High Life Highland policies and procedures, including General Data Protection Regulations, health and safety procedures, relevant checks, reporting any concerns to management to ensure corrective action is taken
