About the RoleMitie is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to support our embedded Project Management team across the BAE Systems estate. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the efficient, safe, and high‑quality delivery of works carried out by external contractors and internal resource at the Warton site, with occasional support required at Samlesbury and Brough.
You will be the on‑site lead for contractor oversight, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence while contributing to the smooth execution of multiple concurrent projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite & Contractor Management
-Lead and oversee the daily activities of external contractors and internal teams, ensuring alignment with project programmes and site requirements.
-Coordinate closely with the Mitie Project Management team to implement and monitor project delivery plans.
-Maintain clear, consistent communication with contractors—providing direction, resolving queries, and ensuring adherence to site rules and expectations.
-Assess contractor performance, address non‑compliance, and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation, BAE Systems protocols, and Mitie policies.
-Conduct regular site inspections, proactively identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
-Champion a strong safety culture on site, setting standards and acting as a role model.
-Issue and manage work permits, monitoring all high‑risk activities from initiation through to safe completion.
Quality & Project Oversight
-Monitor progress against project milestones and escalate risks, delays, or resourcing concerns as required.
-Inspect and verify completed works to ensure they meet quality, specification, and compliance standards.
-Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, including daily records, site logs, and contractor evaluations.
-Support the management and organisation of project documentation in line with Mitie's governance policies.
-Support line manager with weekly / monthly statistics, collecting information and data for inspections and audits
About YouWe're looking for a confident, experienced Site Manager who thrives in dynamic, operational environments and can build strong working relationships with contractors and project teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
-Proven experience as a Site Manager (or similar) within construction, facilities, or project delivery environments.
-Strong understanding of construction processes, contractor management, and safe systems of work.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
-Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and projects simultaneously.
-Competent with project management tools and digital reporting systems.
-A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
-Willingness to travel regularly between Warton and Samlesbury and occasionally to Brough and Towcester.
