£105-£115 per day
Start Date: 6th February 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (Full Academic Year)

Long Term Futures is seeking a calm, patient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with high-needs Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The pupil is currently non-verbal and requires consistent, nurturing support to help them communicate, regulate emotions, and engage with learning. While the needs are complex, the pupil is described as lovely and responsive, making this a deeply rewarding role for the right candidate.

About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals, you will support the pupil's communication, emotional regulation and access to learning throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing consistent 1:1 support within the classroom and during transitions
Supporting communication through visual aids, PECS, Makaton or alternative communication methods
Implementing structured routines to help the pupil feel safe and regulated
Supporting sensory needs and emotional regulation using calm, predictable strategies
Encouraging engagement through play-based and practical learning activities
Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff and specialists

Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience supporting pupils with high-needs ASD, ideally non-verbal
Understanding of alternative communication strategies (training can be provided)
Calm, patient and nurturing approach
Confident managing sensory and emotional needs
Reliable and committed to supporting the pupil long-term
