Job Description
PA needed to help support a young man who is a wheelchair user, access his educational premises, providing physical, health and technology support.
Training will be provided for all aspects of his care.

Roles and Responsibilities
Acting as a Health Care Assistant- supporting his physical and health needs.
Administering medication, using suction machine, assist with his stretches (following his physiotherapy routine), PEG feeding, personal care. Supporting in communication needs- using a communication aid.
You will travel to home address then get on college transport to and from with individual and support him during termtime.
If you accept a role that includes the school holidays: the role includes all the above and supporting to go out in community.
Service user is a wheelchair user- hoisting would be required. Individual has 2:1 care with moving and handling.

Specific Requirements
Someone happy to learn and carry out training with the family.
Good communication needs -requires someone who has English has a first language.
Comfortable using technology- can be taught how to use the communication aid he requires.
Driver would be preferable IF working all year round- not needed for college.

Required Training
Mum is more than happy to provide all training but would be preferable if PA, had Moving and Handling and PEG feeding experience. PLEASE apply even if you don't.
Good level of physical stamina- due to moving and handling.
Would be great if could drive for holiday hours.
A fun loving attitude and good sense of humour would be advantageous.

About Me
Individual is an 18 year old male with an undiagnosed genetic condition. He lives in Salford (M28) with family and attends college in Manchester. He is a wheelchair user who communicates using an eye gaze communication aid. He is learning to drive a power chair, uses a DJ programme to play music and is keen to access computer games using his eye gaze technology.
Individual has a brilliant sense of humour and enjoys being busy and active. He enjoys swimming, bowling and sit skiing at the chill factor. He goes to an outdoor activity centre for a few days each year where he loves to canoe, climb and use the zip wire.
He likes Doctor Who, The Avengers, WWE wrestling and music. He enjoys trips to the theatre, meeting friends and going to youth group.
individual lives in an adapted house and is hoisted, Gastrostomy fed and uses a sleep system and power chair. He has a cough assist machine and suction machine at home to support the health of his chest.

Advert Details
Employer Gender- Male
Hourly Rate- £15.00
Hours Per Week- 25.5 hours a week- Could be termtime only or all year round or extra hours available. To be discussed at interview stage.
How will the hours be used- 3 days a week. 8.5 hours a day- Monday to Wednesday for college. Holidays- more flexible.
