Location: Rochdale Sixth Form College, College Road, Rochdale, OL12 6HY
Salary: Sixth Form Colleges Association Teachers’ Pay Spine 1 - 9 (£33,465 £51,714) + RA3 £2,635 per annum
Contract: Full-time Permanent TTO
Start Date: August 2026
Rochdale Sixth Form College (RSFC) is an Ofsted Outstanding, high-performing sixth form college, nationally recognised for academic excellence and transformational outcomes for young people. We are part of the Altus Education Partnership, a trust committed to raising aspiration and achievement across the borough.
We are seeking an exceptional Course Leader of Biology to provide academic leadership and drive outstanding outcomes across our highly successful Biology provision.
The Role
Working collaboratively within the Science faculty, you will:
- Lead curriculum planning, delivery and development across both year groups
- Ensure robust assessment, standardisation and exam preparation practices
- Monitor student progress and implement targeted interventions where needed
- Support continuous improvement through reflective practice and quality assurance
- Teach A Level Biology and contribute fully to the wider life of the college
Biology is a thriving subject at RSFC, with approximately 400 A Level Biology students and 240 BTEC Applied Science students and excellent specialist facilities, resources and technical support.

Experience of course leadership, quality assurance or examining is desirable but not essential.
