The Medical Physics department in Portsmouth is an accredited training centre. There are strong links with Portsmouth, UCL and Surrey universities. The group in which you will work provides opportunities for staff to be involved in national professional groups / working parties and encourages staff to present and publish scientific work in support of their professional development. Provide specialised technical support in the field of diagnostic radiology physics and radiation protection involving a broad range of specialised, complex, routine and non-routine technical work specifically in; Radiological performance and safety testing of diagnostic X-ray equipment Radiation measurement equipment calibration Patient and staff dosimetry Radiation protection Safety aspects of laser and UV use Support the safe introduction, application and optimization of new techniques and developments, contributing to service, protocol and procedure development for this area of workAssist with the training and supervision of pre-registration Clinical Scientists, STP trainees and junior technicians.Contribute to the day-to-day work of the Medical Physics department and research and development activities Queen Alexandra Hospital is a large modern hospital serving the population of Portsmouth and South- East Hampshire.
