Crynodeb

We are seeking an experienced Legal Disrepair Surveyor to manage and assess housing disrepair cases, supporting legal proceedings and ensuring properties meet statutory and regulatory standards. This role involves inspections, reporting, and liaison with legal teams, landlords, and contractors.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out property inspections relating to housing disrepair claims
  • Identify defects and breaches of statutory requirements (e.g. HHSRS, Landlord & Tenant Act)
  • Prepare detailed, court-ready reports and schedules of work
  • Provide expert advice and evidence for legal proceedings when required
  • Liaise with solicitors, landlords, tenants, and contractors
  • Monitor remedial works and ensure compliance
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in housing disrepair / legal disrepair surveying
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation and building pathology
  • Experience preparing reports for legal purposes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable:

  • RICS or CIOB qualification (or working towards)
  • Local authority or social housing experience
  • Expert witness experience
