Permanent, full time, 52 weeks
An ideal opportunity has arisen for a qualified Gas Engineer / Plumber to join our established team in the Estates department. You must have strong plumbing experience and have a relevant ACS qualification in Domestic and preferably Commercial plumbing. Commercial training will be available for the right candidate.
You will need to be suitably qualified to join the school’s “Gas Safe” register. In addition to dealing with minor maintenance tasks such as drain blockages and domestic boiler repairs, you will also be responsible for fault finding, new boiler installations and the servicing of a range of gas equipment. The variety of installations, and the size of the school site, means that you will work on a wide range of installations in terms of their size, age and complexity.
You must hold a full driving licence, have the ability to problem solve and be able to recognise hazardous situations and know how to respond accordingly. You will need to be flexible outside of your normal working hours and be committed to working as part of a team.
We can offer a competitive salary and generous benefits package to include professional training and development, enhanced holiday entitlement and pension contributions, life insurance, lunch when kitchens are operational, use of the school sports facilities and access to a cycle to work scheme.
Early applications are encouraged. We reserve the right to close this vacancy
early, should a suitable candidate be appointed before the closing date.
Full application packs and job descriptions can be obtained from our website: http://www.shrewsbury.org.uk/page/job-vacancies
or email: humanresources@shrewsbury.org.uk
Closing Date: 12pm, Tuesday 3 February 2026
Interviews will be held at the school on Tuesday 10 February 2026.
Shrewsbury School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service
