Job title: Healthcare Assistant - Band 3 Department: Day Surgery Ward, Inpatients Salary: £29,284 - £33,445 Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday About Us Our Day Surgery Ward situated on the 3rd floor of our main hospital at 20 Devonshire Place, provides expert care for patients undergoing day case procedures across a wide range of specialities including general surgery, ophthalmic, ENT, plastics, gynaecology, and orthopaedics. The unit is designed to support a safe and efficient patient journey, from admission to discharge, with a strong focus on comfort, dignity, and recovery. The Role: We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant with previous acute hospital ward experience to join our Day Surgery Ward. This role is well suited to HCAs who have already worked within a fast paced inpatient setting and are comfortable supporting patient care throughout admission, treatment and discharge. Your existing experience within an acute ward environment will enable you to confidently support the nursing and medical teams and contribute positively to the smooth running of the unit. You will work closely with nurses, consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, efficient and personalised care for patients undergoing day case procedures. Key Responsibilities Support nurses and consultants with patient preparation, perioperative care and recovery Undertake clinical observations and assist with procedures such as ECGs, urinalysis, phlebotomy and wound care once trained and competent Support patient admissions, transfers and discharges, ensuring accurate and timely documentation Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control Act as a chaperone and provide reassurance and support to patients throughout their care journey Assist with stock control, equipment preparation and maintaining a safe and well organised clinical environment Skills and Experience: Previous experience working within an acute hospital ward environment is essential Experience within Day Surgery, surgical wards, A&E or other inpatient acute services Confident working in a fast paced clinical setting with competing priorities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational skills and basic IT literacy A flexible, reliable and professional approach to patient care Apply now to join our dedicated team and be part of an organisation that truly values its people.
