Your new company
Our client is seeking a Senior Assistant to join our Financial Markets (FM) Support & Clearing Team. This position plays a key role in the day‑to‑day processing of Financial Markets operations, overseeing the full settlement lifecycle across a wide range of products. The role involves ensuring accurate and timely transaction processing, resolving complex queries, and working collaboratively with internal teams to maintain exceptional operational standards. As part of the first line of defence (1LoD), the Senior Assistant will support risk identification efforts, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes. The role also involves assisting colleagues, supporting new joiners, and participating in system upgrades, testing, and business‑driven projects.The Clearing & Payments Department provides vital back‑office support for various banking products, working closely with Retail Branches and Front Office Teams to ensure smooth operational delivery for the institution's customers.


Your new role

  • Deliver end‑to‑end settlement processing for a broad suite of FM products, including: FX/MM, Swaps, Options, NDFs, Repo, Bonds / Fixed Income, Securities etc.
  • Ensure all trades are processed and confirmed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Maintain intraday and overnight NOSTRO balances.
  • Validate transactions in Murex/EXPAD.
  • Prepare manual SWIFT payments (MT and MX/ISO20022).
  • Support Euroclear/Easyway settlement processes.
  • Perform brokerage reconciliations.
  • Capture and prepare statistical reporting, MI, and MTM data.
  • Complete weekly and monthly operational reports.
  • Complete tasks assigned by Management to support business development and operational growth.
  • Ensure all work complies with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations.
  • Support the Team Lead in ensuring the team's operational activities meet internal guidelines.


What you'll need to succeed
Experience & Knowledge

  • Strong experience in Financial Markets products and settlement processes.
  • Background in Operations within a financial institution.
  • Skilled in multi‑currency international payment processing.
  • Experience with SWIFT payment messages (MT and MX/ISO20022).
  • Understanding of operational risk, with relevant 3LoD knowledge.
  • Commercial awareness of banking products and associated risks.
  • Awareness of relevant regulatory frameworks, including FCA, PRA, and Consumer Duty.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Fast learner with adaptability to changing environments.
  • Ability to analyse processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
