Assistant Caretaker

Scale 3 SCP 5-6: £25,583 - £25,989 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Caretaker to join our thriving Secondary school, located in a vibrant setting and supporting over 1,400 pupils. We are seeking to appoint a capable and experienced person to contribute to and support the development of our expanding grammar school. As a valued member of our site team, you will be working closely with the Site Manager in the full range of duties to ensure a clean, safe and secure environment for users of the school buildings and grounds.


About the Role:

As our Assistant Caretaker, you will:

Carry out physical checks of the buildings and take necessary action for any repairs, also making good of any areas which could be a source of danger to either the users or security of the building.

Report any issues found and rectified or potential issues arising

Open/close the building as required during the day

Carry out routine cleaning duties using the appropriate materials and mechanical cleaning aids as necessary

Check the buildings regularly to ensure no unauthorised persons are present


About You:

The successful candidate will bring:

Experience in caretaking and maintenance work

Knowledge of manual handling techniques

Ability to work on own initiative with a minimum of supervision and as part of a team

Knowledge and experience in using hand power tools and workshop machinery
