Your Impact: Key Responsibilities and Activities

You won't just be an extra pair of hands; you'll be a mentor, a motivator, and a pillar of support for students with diverse SEN needs, including those with SEMH challenges.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Teachers: Assisting the classroom teacher to ensure lessons run smoothly and are inclusive for all learners.

  • Facilitating Learning: Helping students with varied needs access and engage with a differentiated curriculum.

  • Cultivating Positivity: Actively contributing to a safe, welcoming, and productive school environment.

Specific Activities Include:
  • Targeted Support: Providing one-on-one or small group support to help students with their learning objectives, managing tasks, and overcoming academic or social-emotional challenges.

  • Differentiated Assistance: Working with students across the SEN spectrum, adapting support methods to individual Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.

  • Classroom Management: Assisting in maintaining a focused and calm atmosphere, supporting behavioural and learning strategies set by the teacher.

  • Student Well-being: Being a trusted point of contact, assisting with the pastoral care and overall well-being of the students, especially those facing SEMH difficulties.

  • Empathy: A deep understanding and sensitivity toward the unique learning styles and needs of students with SEN/SEMH.

  • Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a dedicated school team, including working with therapists and specialists.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN/SEMH, or in any educational setting (formal or informal)
