Summary
Vaillent Equine is a yard providing full livery and training for a variety of horses and riders, dedicated to providing horse focused care and a fun educational environment.
We are recruiting for a caring individual who is seeking to start a career working with horses. The individual will be keen to learn and enjoy dealing with a wide range of horses. You will join a fun knowledgeable team who will help you to develop your skills and equip you for a wide range of future roles. There is no accommodation offered however your horse is welcome to stay at the yard!
As a team we have a lot of fun so a sense of humour is essential but we also work hard. The team is young and fun and very easy to work alongside.
Your day to day activities will include:
Feeding.
Loading and unloading horses onto the walker.
Bandaging and booting.
Turning out and bringing in.
Mucking out.
Cleaning automatic waterers.
Washing feed bowls.
Changing rugs.
Vet care – eg washing and treating wounds.
Making up haynets.
Tidying the yard.
Client service
Opportunity to go to shows/away training with yard owner
Own horse welcomed, training and transport to shows possible
Desired skills and Qualities
Previous experience of working with horses would be very useful.
Client service (in any area eg restaurant, shop etc) preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate will be self motivated, have a great sense of humour, be hard working and open to learning. You will be punctual and reliable and enjoy working as part of a team.
Desired qualifications
Pony Club exams, GCSE, or equivalent, in maths and English
Applicants already holding a level 2 in horse care may be considered for a level 3 apprenticeship
Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
Future prospects
Genuine opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis at the end of this Apprenticeship
Great contacts for roles in other yards across the whole of the UK particularly in Dressage and Eventing disciplines.
Things to consider
We work in all weathers with a variety of horses who have their own needs… you must be receptive to instruction as competition horses are not always easy! In addition we offer very high levels of service to our clients and take pride in rehabilitating horses successfully so you must be prepared to operate with high standards.
