An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Manager to join the Gastrointestinal Medicine ward at NSECH. The successful candidate will be a reliable, organised and motivated individual who is passionate about providing exceptional care for patients within the acute medicine setting with a range of medical conditions.

As a key member of the team you will drive the delivery of exceptional patient care whilst bringing fresh ideas for change and improvement. Your contributions will be valued as we strive to enhance the wellbeing of our patients and create a supportive environment for all.

The Ward Manager role includes being responsible and accountable for the day to day management of the ward, demonstrating excellent leadership skills and an enthusiasm for staff and service development. The post holder will be required to demonstrate professional attributes, including, diversity, dealing with change, and be able to work autonomously and effectively within the multidisciplinary team.

As the ward manager you will play a crucial role in driving high quality patient care whist also leading and inspiring the team to deliver exceptional, seamless holistic patient care.

As a senior member of the team you will collaborate with the senior leadership team to influence positive change and achieve your own goals.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. • To be responsible for coordinating the provision of continuous clinical care within allocated resources, providing a quality service and high clinical standards for all patients in your area.
• To be responsible for the management of all human resources issues relating to the staff employed in your area.
• To act as Budget Holder, accountable for the management of the ward budget, and for the management of the ward’s charitable fund.
• To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC code of Professional Conduct.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/ departments and across organizational boundaries.
