Summary

Job Advert
Mencap are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in Spalding. We have both full time and part time contracts available, working across a range of services including supported living and community based support. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You will be supporting people with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible and to enjoy fulfilling lives. The people we support require assistance with day to day activities such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, attending appointments, checking mail and managing medication. You will also support them to get out and about in the community, doing the things they enjoy most, including visits to garden centres, trips to the farm, attending concerts and other social activities. Within the services, people enjoy spending time playing dominoes, taking part in arts and crafts, bingo and gardening, and part of your role will be to encourage and support these interests.

The people we support have a range of needs, and you will be required to work in line with individual support plans. This includes supporting people with personal care, manual handling and mobility, following Speech and Language Therapy plans, and working positively with Positive Behaviour Support plans. Full training will be provided, but a caring attitude, patience and a commitment to person centred support are essential.

As this role involves working across different services in Spalding and supporting people to access the community, a full UK driving licence is required. You must be comfortable driving between services and supporting people with travel as part of their daily lives.

Shift patterns vary and can include early mornings and late evenings, with shifts running between 7am and 10pm. Sleep in shifts are a requirement of the role, and you will also be expected to work weekends on a rota basis.

If you are passionate about making a positive difference, enjoy working as part of a supportive team and want a role where you can truly change lives, we would love to hear from you. Join Mencap in Spalding and help us support people to live the lives they choose.
