To start Spring 2026 or sooner if possible.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teacher as a result of a continuing increase in pupil/student numbers at our school.
St Mary’s is a popular and successful residential special school and college for pupils/students aged 5 to 19 with speech, language and communication needs, learning difficulties and other associated SEND.
We welcome applications from highly successful and experienced teachers from primary mainstream or special school settings, also including ECTs. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with children with complex SEND. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their areas of strength and successful experience in their application.
We are looking to appoint a teacher who can adapt well to new challenges, is committed to raising achievement, and can demonstrate outstanding practice and high aspirations for our pupils/students. The successful candidate will be especially skilled in adapting planning and implementing additional support programmes to meet the specific needs of pupils/students.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• A strong understanding of and interest in SEND, with experience supporting pupils/students who require additional help accessing the curriculum
• The ability to ensure aspirational progress for all pupils/students, regardless of prior attainment, which at St Mary’s is significantly below age-related expectations
• The ability to work effectively within a team, providing direction to support staff delivering targeted intervention programmes
