Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
We require an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our committed team of support staff. The successful candidate will primarily be required to supervise classes while students complete work set by a teacher during a short-term absence. This will involve managing resources and student behaviour in the classroom across a range of subjects. The ability to be able to cover lessons in Physical Education (PE) would be an advantage but is not a necessary requirement for the role.
In addition, we are also keen to recruit a colleague who can provide flexible support in a wider range of roles and other duties could include supporting our Learning Resource Centre, creating resources in reprographics, contributing to school displays or supporting a subject they have specific skills or interests in. We are very welcome to hear candidates' own ideas regarding skills they could offer during times when cover supervision is not required.
Qualities required are firmness and patience, flexibility, good communication skills and the ability to relate to young people. Applicants should be literate and numerate with an education standard equating to GCSE Grade C in English and Maths, or equivalent NVQ level 2 or 3, or BTEC in Learning Support.
