Assisting the Transport manager to Lead the Transport function through an effective vision and strategy
Effectively plan, deliver and lead the Transport operation to meet the customer service and budget requirements. Ensuring legal compliance within EU, Health and Safety and company legislative standards.
How you create impact
- Manage transport resources – people, vehicle and costs. 80 employees – 90 assets, (includes Prime movers & trailer) multi million pound budget.
- Managing 2 sites Defence Fulfilment Centre in Donnington & Aldergrove in Belfast
- Effective management and leadership of transport team
- Develop operational improvements through continuous improvement (CI) delivering service improvements and cost efficiencies through an effective trained/flexible workforce focused on delivering service improvements, accurate resource levels and cost reductions
- To lead in developing the team of supervisors by coaching, monitoring, and evaluating to ensure colleagues work at appropriate performance standards.
- Providing monthly reports in line with management and company requirements
- Ensuring compliance is adhered to according to company and legislative requirements
- Provide a culture of improvement and team effectiveness to ensure a strong team spirit and good team morale
- Promote effective, positive communication with staff, managers, internal and external customer to ensure agreed service level achieved
- Ensure all health and safety obligations are met providing a legal and safe working environment that consistently exceeds quality standards
- Control costs in line with budget
What we would like you to bring
- Essential to hold a Manager CPC National Road Haulage Certificate
- Experience within an operations environment (preferably with moving hazardous products Class 1 to 9) that demonstrates the capability to build, lead, manage and motivate a team
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal at all levels
- Previous experience of managing budgets and cost control
- Results orientated, willing to take ownership for setting and achieving high standards and targets
- An excellent customer service attitude and approach
