Job Title: Wood Machinist
Location: Bradford
Salary: £13.60 – £15.60 per hour (DOE) + 5% Monthly Bonus
Terms: Permanent or Temp-to-Perm | Full-Time (40 Hours) Are you a skilled Wood Machinist looking for a long-term role in a well-established workshop? Or perhaps you are a Bench Joiner with strong machining foundations looking to specialize? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Wood Machinist to join a busy, professional production team in Bradford. This is a pure machining role, perfect for someone who enjoys the technical side of the workshop and is looking for a position with high earning potential through consistent overtime. The Role Working in a fast-paced workshop environment, you will be responsible for operating a variety of woodworking machinery to high standards. Your daily toolkit will include:
  • Surface Planers & Thicknessers
  • Tenoners & Morticers
  • Borers & Drum Sanders
  • Edge Banders
  • Spindle Moulders (For experienced candidates only)
  • CNC experience is a bonus, but not essential.
    What’s in it for you?
    • Competitive Pay: Starting rates of £13.60ph, rising to £15.60ph for "superstar" candidates with extensive spindle and CNC experience.
    • Earnings Boost: Overtime is readily available and paid at Time and a Half (1.5x).
    • Attendance Bonus: A 5% monthly bonus just for being reliable and on time.
    • Holiday: 29 days annual leave (including bank holidays).
    • Stability: A long-term career move with a straightforward, one-stage interview process.
What we are looking for: We need someone who is "workshop ready." While we are happy to support your development, you must have enough hands-on experience to hit the ground running.
      • Experience: Proven background using the machinery listed above.
      • Attitude: A genuine desire to work, a willingness to learn new techniques, and a "can-do" approach.
      • Reliability: Excellent timekeeping is essential for this team.
      • Background: This role is also suitable for traditionally trained Bench Joiners who have transitioned into heavy machine use.
Note: We are looking for candidates with practical, commercial machinist experience. If you have the machine skills but lack the "bench" assembly interest, this is the perfect specialist role for you. How to Apply: Ready to get started? We are moving quickly on this vacancy with informal interviews (including a workshop walk-around) happening immediately. Send your CV today to Kayden Gordon at kayden.gordon@thornbaker.co.uk to be considered. LDS
