Summary

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Mainstream School

Location: Rochdale
Contract: Long-term / ongoing (supply or temporary to permanent opportunities available)
Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require emotional regulation support. You will play a vital role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and build confidence within a mainstream classroom environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs

Supporting pupils to manage emotions, behaviour, and social interactions

Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual support plans

Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral staff

The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a patient, empathetic, and proactive individual who understands the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH needs.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Experience supporting children with SEMH, behaviour needs, or additional needs
