Clinical responsibilities To assist in the clinical services of the unit under direct consultant supervision To participate in inpatient and outpatient care of adults with congenital heart disease To participate in the pre- and post-procedure care of adults with congenital heart disease undergoing surgical or percutaneous intervention To supervise more junior members of medical staff and assist with their ongoing education To contribute to the weekly joint multidisciplinary clinical meetings Participation in the general Cardiology on-call rota which is 1 in 16 and you may be required for night on-calls, long day on-calls and ward on-calls on varied weeks. Research responsibilities Research is a fundamental component of patient care. The postholder will have the opportunity to initiate and carry out research. This may continue from and build on previous research themes of the appointee. Clinical Governance The postholder will be expected to participate in clinical audit and comply with Clinical Governance as appropriate. Managerial Responsibility and On Call The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the education and training of peers and junior doctors. Participation in the General Cardiology on call rota is required and can be discussed. Education and Training There are weekly teaching ward rounds and excellent educational opportunities in the weekly MDT meetings. There will be opportunities for training in ACHD echo, including dedicated ACHD Fellow scanning slots, cath labs and other imaging modalities (including CMR). There are weekly general Cardiology registrar/Fellow training sessions.
