Job Title: Paint Prepper / Finishing Operative
Location: Exeter

About Us
Nortam Finishing Ltd finishes a range of Commercial, Aerospace, and Defence components to the highest industry standards. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Paint Prepper to join our busy finishing team.

Role Overview
As a Paint Prepper, you will be responsible for preparing components prior to painting, ensuring they meet strict quality and safety requirements. You will work to detailed specifications, managing your workload efficiently while maintaining a high standard of finish.

Key Responsibilities
• Preparing components prior to painting, including cleaning, masking, sanding, abrading, filling, priming, and polishing where required
• Removing corrosion or surface defects as needed
• Masking and protecting areas that are not to be coated
• Resealing components after preparation if necessary
• Identifying and working with different surface finishes and coatings
• Inspecting and quality-checking your work to ensure it meets specification and reporting any issues to your line manager
• Working to production schedules and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards
• Adhering to all company Health & Safety and quality procedures.

Requirements
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in surface preparation, paint finishing, or a similar role (automotive, aerospace, or industrial finishing preferred)
• Excellent prepping skills with an eye for detail and quality
• Proven experience in delivering high-quality finishes to exact standards
• Ability to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team
• Able to meet production targets and deadlines while working under pressure
• Awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a workshop/production environment
• ATA, NVQ, or equivalent qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential if you have the required skills and experience.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday 08:00-17:00 & Friday 08:00-13:00
