About the role

We are currently welcoming applications for cleaning vacancies available at the University of Plymouth. Under the direction of the Cleaning Supervisor, you will be part of the team that is responsible for the provision of an efficient and customer focused cleaning service across a diverse range of university facilities.

As a cleaner, you will be helping contribute to the overall student experience, by creating a clean and welcoming environment throughout the university.

You will:

• Be expected to have good customer service skills
• Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Have a basic level of computer knowledge would be advantageous.
• Have an awareness of manual handling skills and a reasonable degree of physical fitness, as you will be required to move, lift, use and carry cleaning equipment, supplies and waste bags.

We have various shift patterns which vary depending on the position you are appointed and are subject to the business need, however you are welcome to indicate a preference to a particular shift pattern (outlined below).

• Monday to Friday, 6.00am to 09.00am or 6.30am to 9.30am, 15 hrs per week

As part of your contract, you will be required to work a maximum of 8 Saturdays early morning shifts per year, to support university and will receive additional payment for this, in line with the university overtime rates of pay.

If you are invited to interview, you will need to bring either your passport or your birth certificate together with proof of your national insurance number with you on the day of the interview. If you have EU Settled or Pre-Settled status, you will be asked to provide your right to work share code to the recruiting panel prior to interview. If you are successful at interview, then copies of documentation will be retained on file, otherwise they will be securely destroyed.

Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.
