This post is to support the roll out and ongoing delivery of the Building Choices Programme in HMP High Down.
The HMPPS London Area is responsible for the delivery of services across 6 Public Prisons and 18 Probation Delivery Units including 14 approved Premises. Work undertaken by London Psychology Services (LPS) is extremely varied with the custody estate comprising of Reception, Training and Resettlement establishments. HMPPS London community provision spans 32 local Authorities, 34 NHS Trusts, 1 Criminal Court Cluster, and the Major’s Office for Policing and Crime. Each of these elements contributes to the rich environment in which HMPPS London Area and LPS operates.
Much of the work of LPS currently supports services within the 6 Public Sector Prisons (Brixton, Highdown, Isis, Pentonville, Wandsworth, Wormwood Scrubs), with work including Risk Assessment, Interventions, Consultancy, Research, and Training. LPS also provide a significant safety offer in which we work in close partnership with our Health and Custodial colleagues to deliver Enhanced Support Services at individual sites. Other notable populations include those convicted of Sexual and Violent Offending, those serving Indeterminate Sentences, and Young Adults.
LPS community Services are less established and present an opportunity for further innovation as we continue to develop the LPS offer through partnership working with the Regional Probation Director and their teams.
The LPS team is relatively small but growing team, offering a close network of support and cross over working, whilst also benefiting from being part of the much larger network that is HMPPS Psychology Services Group (PSG). Continued Professional Development is a core focus for LPS and open learning and development opportunities are actively promoted and encouraged. The geography of the London Area allows for an excellent variety of opportunity and an ability to deliver across a range of sites and delivery units. London also offers excellent transport links and is easily accessed from the National network.
