Summary

The Advice and Support Manager is the strategic lead for The SU’s Advice and Support Service at the University of Bath.

While our Advisors work directly with students, providing independent and confidential guidance through University procedures such as academic appeals, housing issues, disciplinary cases, and complaints, this role primarily focuses on leadership, service development, and strategic impact to ensure our students have an excellent experience.

About the role

You will oversee the delivery and growth of the Advice and Support Service, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our student community. This includes managing a team of Advisors, shaping policies and procedures, and using data and insights to influence positive change across campus. Working closely with SU Officers and University stakeholders, you will champion student voice and help create a safe, inclusive environment.

Key areas of responsibility include:
* Leading the strategic development and sustainable growth of the Advice and Support Service.
* Managing and supporting a team of Advisors to deliver high-quality, student-focused advice.
* Using casework trends and data to inform policy, improve services, and influence decision-making.
* Building partnerships across The SU and University to raise the profile of the service and enhance student wellbeing.
* Providing guidance and support to colleagues across the SU on safeguarding concerns, ensuring consistent practice and promoting a culture of safeguarding and student wellbeing

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a vital service that underpins The SU’s mission of supporting every student to thrive.

About you

To succeed as our Advice and Support Manager, you will bring a combination of leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to student support.

You will demonstrate:
* ability to work under your own initiative, managing priorities and delivering objectives to a high standard.
* strong communication and collaboration skills, building effective partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
* creativity and innovation in service development, with attention to detail and a student-led approach.
* confidence in supporting colleagues across The SU with safeguarding matters, ensuring compliance with policies and promoting a safe environment for all students.
* confidence in using insight and data to influence decisions and deliver strategic goals.

We are looking for someone who can shape and grow a vital service while ensuring students’ voices remain at the heart of everything we do.
