About the Opportunity
We're seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our specialist electronics manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants genuine technical ownership, direct customer involvement, and the chance to mentor others – all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance with our 4-day working week.

The Role
As our Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our manufacturing operations, working on complex PCB and electromechanical assemblies in a low-to-medium volume, high-quality production environment. This isn't a desk-bound role – you'll be actively involved in the day-to-day engineering challenges while having real influence over processes and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from concept through to full production
• Provide technical support and optimization for SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and PCB assembly processes
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges
• Own engineering activities across the manufacturing function
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, sharing your expertise and building team capability
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and manufacturability
• Troubleshoot complex assembly issues and implement effective solutions
• Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure smooth operations

What We're Looking For - Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in manufacturing engineering within electronics/PCB assembly environments
• Strong technical knowledge of SMT processes and PCB assembly techniques
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical builds
• Understanding of low-to-medium volume, high-mix manufacturing
• Ability to work directly with customers and translate requirements into practical solutions
• Experience with NPI processes and design for manufacturability (DFM)
• Problem-solving mindset with a practical, hands-on approach

Desirable Qualities
• Mentoring or coaching experience
• Knowledge of quality standards relevant to electronics manufacturing
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong communication skills across all organizational levels

What We Offer
• 4-Day Working Week (Monday-Thursday) – genuine work-life balance
• Hands-on role – stay connected to the tools and the technical work
• Real ownership – influence outcomes without unnecessary bureaucracy
• Direct customer engagement – build relationships and see the impact of your work
• Mentoring opportunity – develop your leadership skills while staying technical
• High-quality work – complex, interesting projects rather than repetitive mass production
• Collaborative, engineering-focused culture

Why This Role?
This position is ideal for a technically solid Manufacturing Engineer who wants:
• More influence and responsibility without moving away from hands-on engineering
• Meaningful involvement in the full product lifecycle
• A supportive environment free from excessive bureaucracy
• The opportunity to shape processes and mentor the next generation
• Better work-life balance through our 4-day week structure
