Lancaster University Information Systems Services (ISS) department is looking for two Test Analysts to join the Build team on a Fixed Term Contract until 31st July 2026.
The University is undergoing a significant digital transformation. We have a requirement for test analyst to support the ambitious, institution wide Curriculum Transformation Programme. This multi-year strategic initiative is reshaping the design, delivery, and management of undergraduate and postgraduate education to ensure a distinctive, inclusive, and future-ready offering.
You will play a critical role in delivering complex, high-impact digital and systems change in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
You will bring a proven track record of working in a test function on large-scale IT projects, with the ability to engage software developers, technical architects, project managers, business analysts and business customers. You will support IT colleagues through OAT, and systems testing and business colleagues through UAT. Effectively identifying and tracking defects you will work side by side with the developers reporting into the Delivery Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of education and research at Lancaster University through the delivery of innovative, user-focused IT solutions.
You must have experience of:
- Testing legacy desktop and web-based applications.
- Defining test plans and carrying out manual testing
- Supporting business colleagues to complete testing activities
- Preparing and delivering test reports
- Recording, tracking and prioritisation of defects
- Using JIRA (or similar) and Microsoft SQL Server Databases
- Experience working within Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
- Complex system integrations with internal / external systems and data sources
Experience of higher education or other public sector organisations would be advantageous
The role is primarily based on the Lancaster University Bailrigg campus, with flexible hybrid working options to support a positive work-life balance. We would expect a minimum of 4 days a week in the office as the role will involve a large amount of collaborative working with On Campus teams.
